How to Measure Your Head
A great wig starts with a great fit. Use the guide below to take accurate head measurements so we can help you choose the most comfortable size and cap style for your Savvy Wig.
The 7 Key Measurements
- Around the head
- Front to back
- Ear to ear over the top
- Ear to ear across the forehead
- Temple to temple around the back
- Nape of the neck
- Front to crown (whorl)
Step 1: Around the Head
Place the measuring tape at your front hairline. Wrap it down in front of one ear, around the base of your head where your neck bends, up in front of the other ear, and back to your starting point. Keep the tape snug but not tight, following your natural hairline.
Step 2: Front to Back
Start at the center of your front hairline. Bring the tape straight over the top of your head and down the back until you reach the hairline at the base of your skull, just above where your neck meets your head.
Step 3: Ear to Ear Over the Top
Place the tape in the crease where your ear attaches to your head. Bring it straight up over the top of your head to the same spot on the other ear. This measurement helps us understand how your wig will sit from side to side.
Step 4: Ear to Ear Across the Forehead
Start at the hairline just behind one ear. Run the tape across your front hairline, following your natural shape, and stop at the hairline just behind your other ear.
Step 5: Temple to Temple Around the Back
Place the tape at your temple on one side. Wrap the tape straight around the back of your head to the temple on the other side, keeping it level. If you have a lower hairline, the temple is usually about four fingertips diagonally back from the outer corner of your eye.
Step 6: Nape of the Neck
Measure along the back hairline at the nape. Start at one side where your hairline tapers down, follow along the curve of your nape, and stop at the matching point on the other side. The tape should sit on your hairline, not below the natural crease of your neck.
Step 7: Front to Crown (Whorl)
Place the tape at the center of your front hairline. Run it straight back over the top of your head and stop at the crown, where your hair naturally swirls or changes direction. This helps us match the length of the scalp area for a natural look.
